McPhee Freight has been a proud supporter of multiple teams participating in the leading Cancer Council Fundraising event Shitbox Rally. We have assisted by providing transport of their rally cars to and from the below key Cancer Council Fundraising events.
Shitbox Rally is a tri-annual event dedicated to raising much-needed funds to support cancer research. Shitbox Rally is not a race, rather a challenge to achieve the unthinkable; to drive cars worth just $1,500 across Australia via some of its most formidable roads, all in the name of charity. By getting out and doing something unique, positive and proactive, it brings an element of fun and excitement to the task of raising money to cure this heartbreaking disease. McPhee Freight is a naming rights sponsor for the Perenjori 360. The Perenjori 360 is Round 1 of the Western Australian Off Road Racing Championship, a series which will see roughly 50 competitors compete in 5 rounds all around WA in Buggies, 4WDs, Trophy Trucks and SXS vehicles. As naming rights sponsor, McPhee Freight assist with the running of the Perenjori event, enabling the organising club to bring motorsport to rural towns of WA. This helps bring a strong income source into these towns as hundreds of pit crew spectators and competitors travel to the events.
In 2022 the Perenjori 360 was a major success, with over 50 competitors in a successful return to racing after previously having COVID affected seasons. The race itself is a 360km long race, split up with 5 laps of a 72km course. Saturday sees qualifying and 1 lap of the track, with Sunday being 2×2 lap sections – a real test of endurance.
The world of Speedway racing is grassroots, blue collar, flat out excitement – and McPhee Freight has been a Premier Partner of Late Model Racing WA since 2021.
A Late Model is a rolling anachronism: a noisy, powerful, fragile, ill-tempered beast that’s a handful to drive. Modern Late Models are complex and brutally powerful. There is no dead weight on the car, if a part doesn’t contribute to the car’s performance, it is left off.
With a power-to-weight ratio comparable to a Formula 1 car, and a wind tunnel designed wedge body, a Late Model spends most of its time scrabbling for traction, broad sliding around the corners, wheel standing on the straights, and throwing clay into the stands, while the driver wrestles frantically with the steering wheel.
